This painting was inspired by a photograph I first saw hanging in my Spokane girlfriend’s home. Before painting it I went to Dale Chihuly's Garden and Glass exhibit in the Seattle Center which showcases the genius studio glass of the incomparable, world class glass artist. I must have taken hundreds of photos. I found myself lost in this wonderland of unearthly beauty. This particular view is from the atrium designed specifically for Chilhuly’s exhibit of brilliantly colored clusters of glass flowers strung tenuously and oh so perfectly from one end of the atrium to the other.
I have always loved the Seattle Space Needle but have to admit that I was only inspired to paint this incredible Seattle landmark after seeing it through Chihuly’s incomparable aesthetic of art and architecture.
