Hydrangeas have always been one of my favorite flowers. It was not until I was driving pass my neighbor's bushes for two weeks that I got up at dawn, grabbed my camera and caught the flowers with the morning light. I am fascinated by the little blue centers of each blossom. Getting the paint color I wanted was a huge challenge. I did experiment with some inks and some specialty paints from Seattle. It took awhile to get them to "pop", but dark shadows and hard lines helped immensely.
